A search is being conducted to fill an Executive Director position for a newly-created Community Based Development Organization (CBDO) in Abilene, Texas. This position will report to a Board of Directors.

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated person with initiative to build and grow with a new nonprofit corporation. Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of this new organization.

The Executive Director would manage the day-to-day business of the corporation and take the initiative to ensure the planning and designing of programs to revitalize targeted neighborhoods are carried out. The Executive Director is also responsible for the development and management of fund raising programs to acquire gifts from the public and private sectors, community outreach and resident leadership recruitment.

The search team is seeking a person of considerable accomplishments, with a combination of education and experience equivalent to a B.A. degree, three to five years experience in management (preferably nonprofit community-based organization), including supervision of staff and volunteers. The successful candidate should also have proven fund raising ability, demonstrated public speaking and writing skills, and experience with real estate development, commercial/industrial development, property management, and the ability to work with diverse populations. Familiarity with computer-based operations and skill at fiscal management is desirable.
